Los Angeles Sex Crimes and Myspce

Lately, Facebook and Twitter have been the culprits, but a man in Harbor City was sentenced for using MySpace to lure underage girls. This was a federal case where prosecutors are expected to recommend a five year prison term for the Los Angeles man who used MySpace to entice underage girls to have sex with him. The man is 25 years old and pleaded guilty last December in Los Angeles federal court to felony charges of using the Internet to transmit information about a minor. He was arrested by Palos Verdes police adn FBI agents after authorities learned that a 14 year old girl he had met online engaged in sex with him at her house. After an investigation, police determined that the man had contact the girl through MySpace and their cell phones. The guilty man is trying to get a shorter sentence by claiming the sexual relationship was actually a one-time occurrance, meaning that it was not a planned and ongoing situation. However, prosecutors are more than willing to come down hard on this particular individual. According to the attorney, the man "aggressively" sought victims on the Internet, lied about his identity and age and "repeatedly insisted on meeting them in person and would often offer them drugs and alcohol to induce them to have sex with them."
