Maloney does have a valid permit to conceal and carry a weapon, but the arrest was more about possessing a gun while under the influence of drugs. Maloney was in a car with five other people who, according to police reports, were smoking marijuana. There were six people in the car total, five of whom were arrested. There were also three firearms discovered in the car during the bust, two of which were handguns and one was a rifle. According to Maroney's Criminal Defense Attorney, he was "...unlawfully arrested for possession of weapons." The lawyer confirmed Maroney's license to carry a concealed weapon and that he was carrying the permit on him during the time of arrest.
